Business Need
The business need included migration from SharePoint 2013 to SharePoint Online, implementing a hybrid environment to securely share data between on-premises and Cloud applications, upgrading on-premises custom apps to the Cloud and SharePoint 2019 leveraging the SharePoint framework, establishing a secure gateway between on-premises apps and the Cloud to provide seamless and intuitive access to all resources, implementing multi-factor authentication to securely access resources, and collaboration between the client’s IT team and the Bayen Group development team.
Solution
Bayen Group worked closely with the law firm to break the process into two parts: Envisioning and Planning/Execution.
During the envisioning phase, we determined the scope of the migration process, created a detailed list of sites, apps, and data to be migrated, and decided which content would remain on-premises and which would move to the Cloud. Although the initial request was for a complete cloud migration, after assessing and auditing the current tools and needs, our team concluded that a hybrid environment would be the most functional, secure, and cost-effective solution for the client.
In the Planning/Execution phase, we designed and constructed an application interface to bring data from on-premises applications to the Cloud, migrated the entire company intranet to a Cloud platform, and enhanced custom applications specific to the client’s needs. Additionally, we developed a gateway for the Cloud to recognize and trust information from secure locations. Upon user login, the gateway pulls information from on-premises to the Cloud. We also implemented a single sign-on interface to reduce complexity and streamline processes.
Over the course of 4 months, we migrated SharePoint 2013 company intranet and Custom Apps to either SharePoint Online or SharePoint 2019. We also conducted knowledge transfer for the client’s team to allow for maintenance and building of new online tools.
